I LOVE receiving gifts…especially if it’s obvious the person took the time to get something that is personal to me and it’s clear that they really get me.
Now I don’t know about you, I have also been the recipient of some gifts that have made me wonder “does this person even know me?”
Have you ever opened a gift and felt some type of way?
Yes, everyone says it’s the thought that counts and it is better to give than receive and for the most part I tend to agree. However, I think it’s a waste of time and money to give someone something that they have absolutely no use for.
For example, if I were to buy my mom the cutest pair of roller skates and wrapped them in the most beautiful packaging, when she opened her gift, she would be quite disappointed.
That is because my mom does not roller skate and she is at that age where she is not trying to start.
As beautiful as the gift was to me, my mom wouldn’t feel the same way I did.
Of course, I would never give my mom roller skates because I know her quite well and I know the things that bring a smile to her face.
Just like I know my mom very well, God knows you and me even more so.
He knows the things you enjoy and the things that cause you pain. He knows your strengths and your weaknesses and truthfully, He knows the things you wish He didn’t know about you.
He knows everything about you because He created you.
I must remind myself of that quite often because sometimes I forget, just how much God knows me.
In fact, I have found myself struggling with this a lot lately where I have questioned the gifts God has given me.
God would reveal things to me, and I didn’t want to share with others because I didn’t think people would believe me. This has happened numerous times because I questioned who I was that God would show me such things.
We all have access to God but if I’m being honest, I always believed that God only revealed His self to people older and much more “holier” than myself.
You know how some people feel like they must get to church to get a “‘word” from God. That’s kind of how I used to feel that I needed others to tell me what God was showing them for my life.
“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” – Jeremiah 33:3 (NLT Translation)
Lately God has been showing me a lot of things He wants to do in me and through me and at first, I doubted all of it.
Has God ever shown you something He wants to do in you and through you and you said, “God you must have the wrong person?”
Sometimes we feel ill equipped for the BIG vision God has given us, yet we must remember if God is calling us to something He’s already given us everything we need to accomplish it.
Unlike people that give gifts that make you question are we really friends, God is your friend, and He gives the best gifts because He knows everything there is to know about you.
You don’t have to keep doubting what God has given you because although you may feel like you’re not ready to use those gifts, God already has a plan in how He’s going to get you ready. Every gift He has given you, He plans for you to use them, and you will experience a joy that can’t be explained when you’re operating in YOUR gifts.
Not your neighbor’s gift, not your friend’s gift, not your family member’s gift!
When you begin to appreciate the gifts, God has given you and step fully into them, that is where the fun begins. So, what are you waiting on, it’s time to believe in the gifts God has given you.
