“In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.” (Ephesians 1:11)
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9-10)
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
“You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18)
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” (Romans 8:17)
These are just a few of God’s promises to His children and if you ever decided to confess with your mouth and believe with your heart that Jesus is Lord and that He died for your sins and rose from the dead, you are considered His child.
Of course, there are plenty of people who have not made this confession as well as many who do not believe. But God is just that good that the Bible tells us He rains on the just and the unjust.
Some of God’s promises are unconditional and there’s nothing you have to do to benefit from His blessings, but many of His promises we play a part in whether we receive what is being promised.
This is why you should never settle with just surviving, because God has made available everything you need to live an abundant life.
Knowledge is power and when you know better, you should do better.
So, I just want to share a few things that helped me to go from living like an orphan to stepping into everything God said I could.
- Believe – I know that sounds too simple, but we often make it harder because of negative thoughts and beliefs that have been passed down. We also often doubt because we’re in an environment where we’re not exposed to anything better, so we don’t understand what’s possible.
- Heal – God wants to do a NEW thing in your life, but if you’re still holding on to things from the past that have hurt you, you will be unable to move into the new. An abundant life doesn’t mean an easy life, but it does mean you have joy and peace no matter what circumstances you experience. Taking the time to heal allows you to enjoy all that God has for you.
- Check Your Community – It matters who you surround yourself with more than you probably even understand. It wasn’t until I got in rooms with people who made millions doing what they loved that I believed it was possible for me. I stopped hanging around negative people just because we had history because I needed people who spoke life and not death over the dreams God had given me.
If you want to live God’s best life for you, then it’s time to stop settling and go after your inheritance.
It’s not an easy process, but it’s definitely worth it.
You are going to have to let go of some things, people, mindsets, and behaviors.
You are going to have to become a different version of yourself, but it’s actually who you were created to be.
God has so many great things in store for you, but God is so good to us that even He doesn’t force things on you.
You get to choose if you will accept all that’s available to you or if you will continue to settle.
I hope today is the day you decide that you won’t live another day beneath your inheritance.
