92% of people never achieve their goals. That’s a staggering statistic, but it makes a lot of sense.
Every year people are setting resolutions and goals and promising themselves that this will be the year where things will be different.
But for multiple reasons, things don’t always go the way people plan.
As someone who’s always been good at reaching my goals, I will admit that I used to struggle with consistency.
So, although I would reach my goals, it would often take me way longer than it should have.
Until I recognized what the problem really was
and now I want to help you understand why you have been struggling with consistency.
Once you understand these top 3 reasons and do an assessment of what changes you need to make, this is going to change your life.
- YOUR “WHY” IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH – Alot of times we do things for the wrong reasons. It’s not that what you’re doing isn’t something you need to be doing, but you really need to be clear on why you’re doing what you’re doing. It can’t be because of others although others may play a part, but you must have a strong enough why that will keep you showing up for yourself no matter what because you know that what you’re doing is what’s best for you.
- WHAT YOU’RE DOING DOESN’T BRING YOU JOY – It’s really easy to see what’s working for someone else and believe if you just plug and play that you will get the same results, but I have found that just because something works does not mean it will work for me. If you don’t enjoy something, you may do it for a little while, but you will struggle to stay consistent. For example, it wasn’t until I discovered HotWorx that I was able to stay consistent with exercising. You have to find the things you enjoy or find a way to do what needs to be done in an enjoyable way.
- YOU’RE TRYING TO DO IT AT A TIME THAT DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU– If you’re not a morning person, stop fooling yourself that you’re going to get up early and exercise. If you have more energy in the evening, that may be the best time for you. You have to look at your life and figure out a schedule that works best for you. For example, although I love planning and to-do lists, I do better without forcing myself to stick to a strict schedule. I have my daily to-dos, but I don’t add the pressure of having to do certain tasks at a certain time. This works well for me. You have to find what works for you.
It doesn’t matter what area you are currently struggling with staying consistent; these tips will help make your life a whole lot easier.
